Just a short stroll away from the Water Street Inn is the Buoy Shack. Locally owned and locally sourced, the Buoy Shack is right on the border of Kittery, Maine. Coming from the locals, Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier is one of the best spots for a whole Maine lobster. Established in 1948, Chauncey Creek is a BYOB establishment. Set right on the Chauncey Creek River, guests are also able to dock their boat at the pier. What Maine doesn’t lack is good views. The Clam Shack is home of the award winning lobster roll, which comes on a fresh bun from Reilly’s Bakery in Biddeford, could it be anymore local? The bun has just the perfect amount of sweet to it to compliment the saltiness of the knuckle, claw, and tail meat. You can choose from a creamy mayo lobster roll, a hot butter, or the perfect combination of both. Though, if you're in a hurry, there is no worry there, for they also sell lobster roll kits, so you can enjoy the taste of Maine in the comfort of your room.
Right on route one in Kittery is Bob's Clam Hut, “The Golden Fried Standard since 1956”. Bob’s is not only known not only for their fried clams, but also for their lobster roll. They say that a trip to Maine isn’t complete until you grab a bite from this little hut that serves only the best. Bob’s has been published in various magazines, Coastal Living says that Bob’s is where you get one of the best lobster rolls in the state.
Lastly, Nunan’s Lobster Hut in Kennebunkport, Maine, is celebrating their 71th year open. They are located in the quaint fishing village of Cape Porpoise. Their lobster’s are fresh, caught locally, and cooked to order. They offer a nice cold beer or crisp wine to pair with any of the lobster dishes of your choosing.
